Abnormal Hair Growth or Hair Loss

Cicatricial Alopecia

Cicatricial Alopecia is also known as scarring hair loss is the loss of hair that is accompanied by scarring. This is in contrast to non-scarring hair loss. It can be caused by a diverse group of rare disorders that destroy the hair follicle, replace it with scar tissue, and cause permanent hair loss. Weakened hair follicles may be due to an unhealthy diet, too-low caloric intake, and can lead to endocrine disorders. A clear indicator that what you eat has an effect on your hair and scalp.

Hair Shaft Disorders

Hair Shaft Disorders may be caused either by a gene defect that changes the shape of the hair shaft, or by external factors applied to the hair that may lead to a weak hair shaft.

Hypertrichosis is excessive hair growth over and above the normal for the age, sex, and race of an individual. It can be a genetic disorder and can pose a risk of developing into cancer of some form.
